Sautéed Chard with Onions

Ingredients:

1 large bunch of Chard

1 tbsp olive oil

1 clove of garlic, finely chopped

1 onion, diced

1/4 tsp salt

Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Take your bunch of Chard and separate the stems from the leaves. Throughly rinse the stems and leaves under water. Cut the leaves into about 2-inch square pieces and set aside. Chop the stems about the same size as the diced onion pieces.

  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium to high heat. Add chopped chard stems, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper. Cook, while stirring often, until the onions are starting to brown which takes about 6-8 minutes.

  3. Add the chard leaves and 2 tbsp water and cover the pan. Let wilt for 2-4 minuets. Removed lid and continue cooking stirring occasionally until the chard is completely wilted and soften, which takes about 1-3 minutes. Remove from heat and add dressings and or seasonings of your choice.
